Anderson, García Power White Sox to Win Over Yankees

The New York Yankees jumped out to an early lead over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night, but the South Siders got the last laugh as they scored a comeback 5-4 victory at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Tim Anderson blasted a three-run home run in the fifth inning to tie the game up at 4-4, and Leury García homered to give his team the lead in the seventh.

Ivan Nova pitched 5.2 innings and gave up four earned runs, and his teammates picked him up, as Evan Marshall scored his second win of the season and Aaron Bummer got his first save in the winning effort.

J.A. Happ gave up four runs for the Yankees, and Adam Ottavino was tagged with the loss. Brett Gardner hit his 11th home run of the season, and Clint Frazier drove in an RBI for the Bronx Bombers in the loss.

The Yankees jumped out to a lead in the second inning, as Didi Gregorius scored on a wild pitch and Frazier drove in Gardner with an RBI single. In the fourth, Gardner poked a home run over the right field wall, scoring Gleyber Torres and giving the Yankees a 4-0 cushion.

From there, the White Sox staged their comeback. García smacked a double to center field to get the Sox on the board in the fifth, and with two men on Anderson launched a home run over the center field fence to knot the game at 4-4.

In the seventh, García struck again, unloading on a home run over the right field wall to give the Sox a 5-4 lead that they would never relinquish.

The White Sox, now just two games under .500 for the season, will look for their fifth win in six games on Friday when they send ace pitcher Lucas Giolito to the hill against the Yankees, where he will be opposed by C.C. Sabathia. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m.
