Comments from the Artist :
This Queensland boulder opal is absolutely magnifico! It has had no
"treatment" of any kind. No picture can truly depict the play of light in
this solid opal. Light will actually pass through parts of it in the open
back setting which also allows a good portion of the stone to contact the
skin. It is a dreamy stone, looking in it is like looking down into jeweled
waters above a multicolored reef. The light that comes out of the stone has
a watery shimmering iridescent quality in a range of deep indigo blues and
turquoise into the green part of the spectrum. viola!
The opal itself measures approximately 25mm at its widest point, 23mm tall
and it is 5mm deep. The overall width is a couple o' mm wider and with the
bail it is 34mm tall. The generous base plate of the bezel setting is 10k
yellow gold 22 Ga. The bezel edge itself is 14k yellow gold. The bail is
fabricated from 10k yellow gold as well and the tube setting with the
sapphire is 14k yellow gold. The sapphire is a deep blue AAA quality 3mm
round. I picked the accent stone to compliment the deep blue hues of the opal
